Our El Burrito folder takes design inspiration from our El Burro fixed blade with the folding mechanism from our Folding Djinn. Small utility EDC sized 3.75" closed, with a 2.6" CPM 3V blade. Big enough to fill your hand for heavy duty work, while being very lightweight at 2.3 oz.
The 1/8" thick blade is 3D machined from CPM 3V, one of the toughest knife steels available, and is more resistant to chipping and tip damage than other steels. Our 3D machining process keeps a thin BTE (behind the edge) thickness at the heel of the blade near your hand for increased cutting performance, then transitions to a flat grind near the tip for improved tip strength.
The handle scales are machined from 6061 aluminum for its strength and rigidity. We pocket the interior of the knife handles, allowing us to further decrease the overall weight of the El Burrito.
The machined S7 tool steel lock is pushed by a compression spring and doesn't have the traditional issues seen by omega springs failing. The lock bar is heat treated and has room for wear factored in, giving a long lasting and durable lockup every time. The lock is ambidextrously accessible from both sides of the handle and is easily pulled down allowing the blade to freely swing open or closed.
The clip is machined from 17-4 Stainless Steel, and has excellent retention, making sure you don't lose your blade during any activity.
This first run batch has our in house heat treat following a low temper shown originally on Knife Steel Nerds by Larrin Thomas. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2025/04/15/cpm-3v-still-the-best-high-toughness-steel/ We went on the low end of the HRC for 3V with these being at HRC 59 but the edge stability on these are so tough, no micro chipping and tip durability is high. We feel it's a great hardness for a tough use utility blade while maintaining easy resharpening.
